What Are Enlarged Pores?

Enlarged pores are pores that are large enough to be clearly visible with the naked eye. These pores tend to fill with excessive amounts of oil and debris. As they grow in size, our pores may have a significant impact on our appearance, resulting in blackheads, acne and other skin conditions. If not properly addressed, enlarged pores can eventually lead to infections.

What Causes Enlarged Pores?

Our bodies are covered by tiny hairs, and each hair follicle is connected to a sebaceous gland that produces oil. When oil is produced, it is stored in the pore. Ordinarily, pores retain their normal size, but certain factors can lead to enlarged pores. These factors include excessive sebum (oil) production, decreased skin elasticity and increased hair follicle volume. All of these factors can combine to tarnish the look of your skin.
